FAQs

There is no required fitness level to attend StrongWomen classes or retreats. As teachers, we modify our classes and workshops to suit the individual or group and everyone is welcome to work at their own pace.

StrongWomen creates classes, workshops, retreats and events that build body positivity and physical and mental resilience in women. As hosts, we invite and celebrate diversity, believing it contributes to deeper understanding between communities. We stand for inclusion and welcome people from all backgrounds, countries, cultures and of all ages.

Approaching physical exercise as an important contributor to mental health and wellbeing rather than a means to achieve a particular external aesthetic.

Our belief is that the language we and others use about our bodies, can determine our thoughts and actions. Particularly as women, we can collectively change that language and the thinking around it for the better.

We aim to be characterised by integrity and passion for helping people to thrive. Working from our own past experience, we believe change comes from within, we just need the courage-building skills, tools and methods to create opportunities to flourish.

Convinced that by building community and connection, people lift each other up and individuals grow and shine.

You´re in the right place! We´re here to introduce and support you. Guiding you through classes, and showing you any necessary modifications. We encourage all our participants to foster an attitude of support and kindness with others.

A typical day on a retreat would start around 8 or 9am with a morning activity like Yoga or Boxercise. A healthy, brunch, prepared on site would be served late morning and then free time or optional workshops like cold water therapy in the afternoon. Another class, late afternoon, before dinner. Depending on the location and weather, there will be days where we trail walk, go to the beach for SUP Yoga or engage in other locally available activities. We come together in the early evening to socialise, play board games and share dinner around 7pm.

All day events and classes are programmed as advertised, they’re all different.

A retreat is  the chance to step aside from life for a while. Exercise, rest and just be in a welcoming, safe, peaceful, place.

We live as a community, so share tasks and participate in the day to day running of the space, being mindful and respectful of all who are there.
It’s an opportunity to connect with yourself, nature and other people if you choose. Some people like to take a lot of rest and alone time, others prefer more activity. We choose beautiful, natural spaces for our retreats so there’s always something to see and enjoy.

Most of our retreats cater for women. (StrongWomen)

However, we do from time to time, host StrongPeople events for men and women. We will always clearly advertise whether the retreat is for women only.

We prefer to keep everyone together as a community from start to finish for the full retreat experience. If travel plans make this difficult or impossible, we´ll discuss early departure or arrival.
